Under general supervision this position will provide excellent customer service across all functional responsibilities while maintaining the highest integrity in financial reporting. The Controller's Office strives to achieve this by working collaboratively with all departments to deliver accurate and timely information in a courteous, cooperative and cost-effective manner.
Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities
1.Maintains the general ledger. Ensures that proper accounting practices are followed for the data entered into the accounting system.
2.Analyzes and reviews accounts; including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
3.Processes the monthly, semester and annual closing of the accounting records on financial system.
4.Serves as a key point of contact for Finance, fostering collaborative relationships across all areas of the college.
5.Responsible for preparing timely various external reports for review and approval by the Accounting Manager.
6.Responds to auditor requests and assists with preparation of audit schedules for various audits and agreed upon procedure reports.
7.Maintain GLACIER Non-Resident Alien Tax Compliance Software, including international student, staff and faculty records. Prepare associated tax forms 1042 and 1042-S.
8.Prepares draft tax reports for review and approval by the Accounting Director. These reports include, but are not limited to, the IRS Forms 990 and 990T.
9.Prepares ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested for accounting and administrative use.
10.Leverage business knowledge and expertise to identify and recommend process improvements and efficiencies as appropriate.
11.Exercise confidentiality, professionalism and independent judgment in handling confidential information.
12.Assists with fiscal compliance of Federal Grants, including Single audit requirements.
13.Assists with maintaining the fixed asset module within the accounting system.
14.Performs other duties as requested.

*Typically a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other closely related field. CPA or MBA preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
*Five years of progressively responsible experience in a business environment or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities needed. Must have a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, performs professional work in the areas of accounting, analysis and reporting with a focus on restricted funds.
*Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex information.
*Well developed organizational skills.
*Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Workday financials.
