FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor???s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn. The Accounting program, housed in the Business Department at City Tech, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin Spring or Fall 2023.
The Department of Business has 13 full-time faculty members with extensive experience in the private sector, as well as a proven track record of excellence in higher education. Approximately 1,000 students are enrolled in the department???s degree programs, which include a baccalaureate degree in the Business and Technology of Fashion, and 4 associate-level programs: Accounting, Business and Technology of Fashion, Marketing Management and Sales, and Ophthalmic Dispensing, as well as a minor in Business.
This position requires teaching, research and other scholarly pursuits, service to the college, and student advisement. City Tech offers opportunity for professional development through collaborations with the larger CUNY community. The Assistant Professor will teach Accounting courses such as financial accounting, cost accounting, intermediate accounting, taxation, marketing, business management, financial management, and financial forecasting. The Assistant Professor is expected to conduct scholarly activities leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations, be committed to excellence in teaching, and provide service to the Business Department, the School of Professional Studies, and support the mission of the College and the University. Service expectations include working collaboratively to support advisement, recruitment, retention, assessment, curricular development and improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications:
By the date of appointment, a Master???s degree in accounting or other business focus, and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong and up-to-date knowledge in the field of accounting.
- Prior teaching experience, especially at the higher education level, is highly desirable.
- Project management experience, and professional/industry experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), Quickbooks, and use of Blackboard or similar course management software.
- A solid knowledge of educational methodology to be able to teach via in-person, online and hybrid modalities.
Vaccine requirement:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
COMPENSATION
$75,465 - $93,134
