Job Summary:
To provide Director of Accounting assistance with managing the financial activities and accounting functions of General Accounting, including supervision of Accounting Staff.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible to provide support to Director of Accounting and any employee directly supervised.
- Manage staff member's workload which includes 3 Accountant III's. Coordinate, plan, assign, and review staff work. Assists in developing and administration of new policies, procedures, and training staff for these.
- Ensure timely reporting of financial results.
- Responsible for all UTA credit card bank reconciliations.
- Responsible for reviewing & transferring funds to adjust daily bank balances and UTIMCO Investment balances for appropriate levels which include forecasting daily and monthly cash requirements and adjusting balances between Short-Term Funds (STF) and Intermediate-Term Funds (ITF). Review and approve monthly journal entries to record Realized and Unrealized Gains/Losses and interest distributions.
- Responsible for ensuring all banking transactions are assigned Treasury Templates and generate entries in UT Share Treasury Module to record deposits, payments, banking transfers, and charges in UT Share.
- Set up system security access for Accounting Services and other UTA staff for appropriate functions in banking website. This includes setting up debit block exceptions for any approved for specific purposes.
- Review and approve gift deposits and all Endowment Income/Gain and SIA entries. Review quarterly Endowment reports and reconciliations. Work with Development Office to transfer gifts and other funds to Endowment funds.
- Supervises the UT Share SAHARA Reconciliation module which includes user role set up of UTA faculty and staff as well as monthly and quarterly Compliance monitoring reports. Quarterly Compliance reports are submitted to the Chief University Compliance Officer.
- Responsible for review and approval of all Daily Departmental Deposit entries as generated by My Mav. Journal entries are analyzed for correct account codes for both cost centers and Capital/Sponsored Projects.
- Responsible for review and approval of all Merchant Location requests from UTA departments for credit card processing from Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.
- Coordinates set up of TouchNet Marketplace stores with Business Technical Services and responsible for daily journal entries generated for TouchNet to UT Share.
- Responsible for setting up UTA as a vendor with outside entities to provide banking information for payments to UTA.
- Responsible for review and approval of multiple financial schedules required for the Annual Financial Report. Assist with various other year end duties and reconciliations. Assist campus community with financial and account analysis.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal and external parties as required. Represent the University of Texas at Arlington and Accounting Services in meetings related to financial and reporting matters. Ensure compliance with applicable university polices and local, state, and federal requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 5 years of general ledger and managerial experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 or more years in Higher Education, Microsoft Excel, experience with Peoplesoft FMS including, Treasury and General Ledger. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail & documentation skills.
