Description
The University of Alabama is seeking Clinical Research Administrator II. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contract principles, federal regulations, laws and UAB policy and operating procedures. Will serve as liaison to the UAB Offices of Industry Engagement and Sponsored Programs in negotiation of confidentiality agreements (CDAs), contracts, and amendments related to the conduct of clinical research activities. Will identify conflicts of interest, legal, IP and business/financial risk. This candidate will also maintain familiarity with appropriate Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and regulations.
- Aid in reviewing budgets to ensure that salaries, fringe rates, indirect costs rate are correct.
- Preparing information necessary for Just-in-time requirements.
- Ensuring that progress reports and financial reports are submitted when due and assisting in all grant closeout activities.
- Providing accurate effort adjustments to Division support for Research Team.
- Reviews biosketches to ensure that they are in the correct format and using updated forms.
- Aids investigators in the preparation of other support documents.
- Responsible for monitoring all research related expenditures and notifying investigators when spending is higher than a particular funding source.
- Responsible for ensuring that budget, amounts received, and account numbers are entered into Oracle correctly and timely by working with award accountant.
- Processing Invoices from Subcontracted Entities.
- Gathers materials needed for proposal preparation and submission.
- Communications with Office of Sponsored Programs for any follow up items.
- Serve as the primary liaison to manage the administration of the sub-award agreement with the lead organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range - $47665 - $77455 - Annually
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
Additional Skills Preferred:
- Familiarity with internal finance processes and workflows (oracle, Irap etc)
- Familiarity or willingness to learn recurring institutional requirements
- Effort reporting (will be directly involved)
- Space analysis (will be indirectly involved)
- Monthly account reviews
- Ability to conduct a meeting virtually (share screen via zoom etc)
- Financial acumen--
- Ability to create and balance budgets
- Ability to project expenses over time
- Ability to account for effort both in time form (months) and % form
- Familiarity with Excel since most budgets are kept on spreadsheets
