Job Duties:
The Accounts Payable Director (Accountant III) in Accounts Payable is responsible for the fiscal integrity of the Accounts Payable operation, which involves extensive knowledge of the various policies and rules of the State, IRS and University. The position is responsible for allotment accounting posting with the State, the requisition of funds from the State Treasurer, providing regular monthly reports, working with the University Controller's Office on the reconciliation of the budget, NCAS and Banner system and maintaining encumbrance data on the Banner system. At fiscal year-end this position plays a significant role in providing information for the University financial projection models that are used to close out the University's operations at the end of the fiscal year. The position oversees a department of nine and directly supervises three in the Accounts Payable department and will also interact with staff in Materials Management, the Controller's Office, Budget Office, Grants and Contracts, Systems Coordination, the office of the State Controller, the Department of State Treasurer, and the various customers in the Foundations and university divisions. These activities include written and verbal training programs for immediate staff, customer service training, process and system improvements and review and update of all Accounts Payable Standard Operating Policies.

Organizational Unit Overview:
The Division of Administration and Finance is ultimately responsible for all financial and administrative activities of East Carolina University and its affiliated Foundations. The Division consists of Financial Services, Campus Operations, Information Technology and Computing Services, Human Resources, Environmental Health and Campus Safety, Auxiliary Services and various support activities related to the ECU affiliated Foundations.
