FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Accounting and Information Systems of Queens College of the City University of New York seeks 2 CCE-track, full-time Lecturers, commencing August 2023. Primary instructional responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in auditing and taxation. These positions require on-campus, in-person instructional sessions.
In addition to the teaching responsibilities indicated above, which may include evenings and weekends, the successful candidates are expected to assist the needs of the Department in the areas of administration, student advisement, etc. The College expects faculty participation in its diverse activities and a commitment to render service to the College and the profession as well. A commitment to establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with students, colleagues, and staff representing diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Experience using technology as an instructional aide where appropriate to enhance learning is also required.
With approximately 500 declared undergraduate majors, the department offers 2 distinct Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in accounting. In addition to the standard schedule of day classes, the department offers a full evening program as well as a full weekend program allowing students substantial flexibility in scheduling classes based on family and work-related responsibilities.
The department also offers a Master of Science degree in accounting, which is registered with New York State, and fulfills the educational requirements necessary in order to receive a license as a Certified Public Accountant in New York. Approximately 150 students attend this program on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Additionally, the department also offers a Master of Science degree in taxation, which is registered with New York State.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification
Required: A Bachelor???s degree in accounting, along with an active CPA license designation.
Preferred Qualification
?? Master???s degree in Accounting or Master???s degree in Taxation.
?? At least 2 years of documented teaching excellence at the college level.
?? Documented work experience in financial statement auditing, and/or technical skills in specific areas of the internal revenue code and treasury regulations.
?? The ability to communicate orally and in writing with our student population that is one of the most ethnically diverse in the United States is essential.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $79,170 - $92,878

BENEFITS

Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 -- City of New York employees and employees of participating employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website
