DEMCO, the largest electric cooperative in Louisiana, provides reliable electric service to over 100,000 members in seven parishes, including Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, and West Feliciana.
We are currently seeking a Controller to perform functions related to the design, development, establishment and implementation of accounting, tax, auditing, budgeting, regulatory, internal control, payroll and financial reporting policies, procedures, and administrative practices. Overall duties include general accounting, treasury/cash management, payroll supervision, and financial reporting and compliance in accordance with prudent utility practice and with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other related field as well as 7+ years of relevant experience with at least 3 years at the supervisory level, preferably in the electric utility industry. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.

The system includes ten metering points for wholesale power and 40 substations for system reliability. The primary voltage is 69 kV with 230 kV metering points and substation facilities available. The distribution system primary voltages are 14.4/24.9 kV and 7.62/13.2 kV. DEMCO also provides two mobile substations of 20 MVA and 10 MVA capacity. The electrical system is continually monitored by a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA) to detect system failures.
