Position Summary:

The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers-striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. Working closely with campus fiscal management, the UCI Controller's Office is a trusted strategic partner divided into three core teams: Accounting & Fiscal Services, Procurement Services, and Financial Services.

Uses professional accounting concepts in reconciling multiple ledger and sub-ledger accounts Completes accounting assignments that are of moderate scope where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors and multiple sources. Identifies and investigates ledger balance discrepancies and make appropriate correcting entries when necessary. Exercises judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Has contact with internal and external resources on a regular basis. Applies policies and procedures to resolve a variety of accounting issues. Prepares monthly and annual financial reports for analysis and forecasting.

$25.57 - $45.02 (Hourly Rate)

Required:

2 or more years of accounting related experience as an Accounting Specialist, or Junior Accountant, or equivalent combination of experience and education

Associate degree in related area or Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Knowledge of accounting functions and assignments. Ability to apply more advanced accounting concepts to complete work assignments. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing. Working knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements. Working knowledge of common desktop / web applications. Knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting projects of moderate scope. Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices (e.g., GAAP, GASB and SAS) Sound knowledge of UC policies and procedures. Experience working in a regulated environment with limited resources
