Position Summary
The College of Nursing is seeking applications for our new Accountant position. The College of Nursing Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the College’s finances as well as preparing and processing financial transactions in KFS and SAP. Additionally, the accountant will develop, monitor and maintain College and unit-level financial reports to ensure accuracy and validity as well as to project revenue and expenses. This position will work directly with the Manager of Budgeting, Finance and Fiscal Reporting on all College-level accounts and funding sources. The accountant will not only be knowledgeable with MSU and College financial policies and procedures, but they will also act as a resource and liaison to College faculty, staff and administrators.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Prepare and process financial, accounting and budget entries
- Calculate salary costs in order to help establish a budget for College of Nursing grants during

Review, approve and audit financial transactions for accuracy and validity

Act as a resource to College staff for accounting/financial transactions

Develop and maintain reports that summarize business and operational analysis

Monitor College and Unit revenues and expenditures; projects revenues and expenditures

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial statement and report preparation, general ledger accounting and budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in business, finance or accounting; experience working with EBS (KFS, SAP) or similar institutional systems, experience with developing financial reporting using tools such as query studio; experience with MSU financial policies and procedures (Manual of Business) exceptional organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills; ability to articulate financial data to a variety of audiences
