General Summary:
RCC is seeking a Development Associate to work closely with the development team to manage all fundraising initiatives and projects for the Roxbury Community College Foundation. The Associate will play a critical role on the Development team as we build infrastructure to expand our reach and broaden the funding base necessary to effectively support the College. The Associate will support fundraising and advancement efforts by providing administrative support to the Development team and participating in all fundraising activities including data management, donor stewardship, prospect research, communications, and special events, as well as provide support to the Office of the President, as needed.
Essential Functions:
Data Management
- Take primary responsibility for the organization's development database, becoming an expert in its design and functionality, developing strategies for its use and ensuring regular, accurate updating and report generation.
- Analyze and share fundraising data with internal and external audiences so the RCCF can make informed decisions on fundraising prospects and strategies.
- Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files (on the database and server).
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors.
- Reconcile donations with the Finance Department and Foundation Accountant monthly.
Donor Stewardship and Solicitation
- Regularly research and identify foundation, corporation and individual prospects at all giving levels.
- Support strategic donor outreach and communication including annual appeals, regular correspondence with key funding representatives and coordinate necessary campus visits.
- Assist with developing the fundraising strategies, tracking sponsorship benefits, and executing all activities for foundation events:
- Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
Communications
- Manage a calendar of communications that incorporates planned outreach and updates for donors, prospects, volunteers, alumni and other external stakeholders.
- In collaboration with the ED of Development, manage email and hard copy content to current and prospective donors.
- Support the management of RCCF's branded collateral materials and the website. Administrative Support
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Development Department: including maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings for the ED of Development and tracking the department budget.
- Assist with RCCF meeting logistics (as needed); staff RCCF and alumni board meetings and provide administrative support. Other special projects as assigned to support the success of the development department.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Three years of relevant work experience; direct experience with fundraising preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Database management experience (Raiser's Edge preferred)
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to interact effectively with a variety of audiences
- Ability to meet deadlines, goals, objectives and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy
- Ability to develop and maintain cross-functional, collaborative working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff and with academic, administrative, and other functional units on campus
- Team player who demonstrates a positive attitude, sense of humor, energy, entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to collaboration
- Flexibility that allows for periodic work in the evenings
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time, Non-unit Professional position.
- Compensation starting salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications
