A Medicare Appeals Coordinator at Hall Render Killian Heath & Lyman will perform a wide variety of tasks to support a busy litigation practice challenging Medicare cost report policies. Major duties of an Appeals Coordinator include providing comprehensive and efficient analytical support to prepare Medicare cost report appeal filing supporting documents, communicating with hospital clients, MACs, and Provider Reimbursement Review Board (PRRB) staff, preparing and editing correspondence of legal documents, calendar management, docket management, and maintaining files. Technology skills are a necessity in this role as is familiarity with Medicare cost reports and related accounting functions as well as having a team-player mindset and ability to multi-task.
Key Roles and Responsibilities

Assisting attorneys by finding reliable solutions while working within firm policies and procedures.

Maintaining detailed internal dockets of cases in various stages of litigation.

Developing comfort and proficiency with all necessary firm software and providing first-line support to attorneys.

Drafting, proofreading and editing a variety of documents for correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, format and content in prepared materials.

Scheduling and calendar management.

Communicating directly with clients, MACs, and PRRB staff.

Collecting and Analyzing Documentation

Monitor and Ensure timely filing of Deadlines

Update Internal database and spreadsheets
Requirements

Ability to communicate with clients and stakeholders in a professional manner.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Excellent writing, grammar and proofreading skills.

Ability to work independently to find solutions to technical problems.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as accounting or finance

Minimum two years’ experience working in a position with exposure to Medicare cost reports.

Position is onsite in Indianapolis, Indiana
