Perform varied accounting, financial and analytical tasks for the purpose of supporting the accounting functional responsibilities of the Controller's Office.
Assist in the maintenance of accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Understand and prepare, as assigned, annual information returns required by various governmental and non-governmental agencies.
Prepare, input, and verify journal entries.
Perform reconciliations and related account analyses on a periodic (monthly, quarterly, semesterly, annually) basis. Assist in resolving differences.
Verify accuracy of financial information provided by departments outside the general accounting area and process as needed.
Prepare and distribute invoices for required third parties.
Maintain Prepaid Asset sub-ledger, including monthly additions, amortization, and reconciliation to the GL.
Review AP reports and general ledger detail for coding discrepancies and perform re-classes as needed.
Review and process reclassification requests from various University departments.
Assist in the compilation of the month-end close package, including Balance Sheet and Income Statement fluctuation analysis
Perform assigned tasks for semester and yearly closes as required.
Various research projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager
Assistance to the Accounting Manager and outside auditors with the annual audit
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications
Typically a Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other closely related field. CPA or MBA preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
Minimum three years in accounting department with demonstrated progression of responsibilities. Experience performing a variety of accounting tasks with speed and accuracy. Quickly learn the University accounting structure, procedures, and processes. Work well with a diverse population of faculty and staff. Develop good interpersonal relationships with University administrators. Resolve problems quickly.
Demonstrated knowledge in automated accounting system, general accounting principles, and spreadsheet application.
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex information.
Well-developed organizational skills.
Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Workday, Cashpro, and Microsoft Office.

Staff RegularSalary range
