Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. is a well-established and highly regarded specialty subcontractor with over 700 team members passionate about the Life Safety Industry. Our operations service the Southeast from seven locations in Florida and North Carolina.
We are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, managing and running of all the financial activities of our company, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and collection functions. The individual should have a proven track record as CFO handling expansion and change management in a mid-market construction company.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the CEO in formulating a corporate mission and translating this vision into a strategic plan. Draft the methodology and analysis necessary to communicate the strategic plan to the senior management group.
- Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
- Oversees the accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions. Meets regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction.
- Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
- Analyzes company operations to pinpoint opportunities and areas that need to be reorganized, downsized, or eliminated.
- Directs treasury functions and ensures that a system is in place to adequately forecast upcoming cash needs.
- Counsels and advises the department managers as they prepare tactical plans and operating budgets. Scrutinize these plans and budgets for congruency with the corporate strategic plan.
- Assists the Corporate Counsel in risk evaluations of potential construction defect claims and other pending litigation.
- Partners with the CIO to ensure that the design and structure of the Information System can articulate the key financial information that serves as a basis for decision making.
- Oversees the organization’s comprehensive insurance and risk management programs, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the reputation, safety, security, or financial success of the organization.
- Oversees the collection efforts to ensure a comprehensive process is in place for the collection of outstanding invoices, enforcement of lien claims, and minimization of bad debt expenses.
- Administers all company Retirement Plans and acts as liaison to the Plan Attorney, Plan Investment Advisor, Plan Custodian, Plan Auditors, and other outside consultants.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- To be considered for this position, all applicants must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience at the CFO Level (preferably with a construction firm) in multiple state operations.?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
- Prior ERP systems conversion experience preferred.
- Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
- Proven track record of building teams and mentoring staff.
- Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written skills.
- Prior public accounting audit experience preferred.
