About the Company and Opportunity:
Our company is growing; thus, we are searching for experienced candidates to fill newly created positions. We are currently looking for a Tax Director. Tax Director Overview:
8+ years of recent experience in public accounting (or a combination of industry and public accounting) that includes working in a paperless and cloud environment, reviewing complex returns, researching complex tax issues, signing returns, managing client engagements, supervising project teams, establishing effective partnerships with clients, billing, and business development.
Your skills and experience will enable you to meet the following expectations of our professional and diverse Tax Group.
- Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for all types of returns, including corporate (C and S Corporation), partnership, non-profit, trusts, and individuals.
- In-depth knowledge of partnership tax positions, including property contributions and distributions, step-up in basis, other partnership-specific elections and codes, property contributions and distributions, and other partnership-specific elections and codes.
- In-depth knowledge of 163(j) Interest deduction limitation and real estate transactions, partner changes, and gift tax returns.
- Manage and facilitate IRS income tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
- Maintaining accurate and organized documentation for all tax-related activities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and potential clients; Effectively manage overall client relationships to ensure client satisfaction.
- Conduct tax research and analysis to provide expert advice to clients on complex tax matters.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.
- Delegates work to staff; supervises work and reviews the work of others.
- Develop and motivate engagement teams by providing mentorship, leadership, coaching, and career guidance; Ensure continuous improvement and development of tax professionals.
- Review entity returns prepared by the team and provide constructive feedback to develop their personal and professional skills; sign all returns.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local income tax returns and other business-related filings.
- Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
What you'll need to be considered:
- CPA certification is required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on business tax returns
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Leadership and mentoring experience
- Strong technical knowledge and skills
- Proficiency in tax software, QuickBooks, and MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
