The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.

In this position, you will oversee strategic initiatives, perform complex financial analyses, develop and implement forecasting models, and research and resolve financial and accounting anomalies.
Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
- Oversee budget development and administration; compare anticipated vs. actual results, and identify areas of improvement
- Monitor budget and fiscal expenditures for the department, including fiscal monitoring and analysis of capital project(s)
- Perform complex financial operational and analytical duties in support of the department
- Conduct research projects regarding budget, finance, and operations
- Prepare reports and analyses related to the impact of budgetary decisions
- Prepare multi-year financial forecasts and projections
- Prepare and deliver presentations of financial information to boards and committees, e. Parks Board, TOPS Working Committee, or City Council Budget Committee
- Analyze capital, personnel, operating, and maintenance expenditures
- Analyze, develop, and complete special ad hoc project requests
- Plan, prioritize, assign, and review the work of assigned lower-level staff
- Coordinate financial and accounting activities with other departments, outside agencies, and the public
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
- Knowledge of principles, application, and practices of critical thinking and analysis
- Knowledge of principles and practices of research methods, data collection, and project coordination
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Knowledge of Government Accounting Standard Board (GASB) standards and guidance
- Knowledge of modern office technology and supporting software with an emphasis on Microsoft products
- Ability to adhere to schedules, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports
- Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
This position requires exceptional organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
Ideal candidates will also have:
- Experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and budget development
- Experience which demonstrates advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience using PeopleSoft and SharePoint software
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certifications
