Carnegie Mellon University's Finance Division is searching for a Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support in conducting analysis to assess compliance with Carnegie Mellon University's policies and procedures in relation to the Business and Travel Expense Policy and Purchasing Policy. This role is responsible for coordination with various departments within the Finance Division as it relates to compliance and university policies and procedures.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Assisting with various audits, audit related tracking, and audit reporting within the Controller's Office;
Ensuring thorough knowledge of university systems;
Providing professional analysis and documentation, tracking compliance, preparing reports and analyzing necessary metrics;
Partnering with Finance Division stakeholders to develop recommendations to improve internal controls, compliance, and policies and procedures;
Communication to supervisor regarding progress of work, issues and problems encountered; status of budget, prioritization of tasks and work load, etc.;
Assist with performing other duties in support of the Controller's Office function of the university; and
Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
General finance, audit and compliance knowledge
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic understanding of internal controls along with strong interpersonal and team-building skills
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
3-5 years of relevant experience required
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Work Posture: This position is operating on a hybrid schedule, with an in office presence 2 days a week. The Finance Division is located at Bakery Square.
