Summary Position Elon University invites applications for a Director of Sponsored Programs position. The Director of Sponsored Programs will develop and implement a strategic vision and goals for the Office of Sponsored Programs, aligning the vision and goals with the University's mission and priorities. They will provide organizational leadership for the OSP to ensure effective and efficient management of sponsored projects, coordinate the day-to-day activities of OSP and drive decisions, and offer outstanding customer service to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. The Director will seek professional development and growth opportunities for themselves and their staff. They will provide supervision and training to the Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs and work with the Assistant Director and Grants Accountant to ensure efficient management of grants from pre-award to closeout.

General Purpose of Position The Director of Sponsored Programs provides strategic vision and organizational leadership for the OSP, in order to grow and support external funding, ensure effective and efficient management of sponsored projects, coordinate the day-to-day activities of OSP and drive decisions, and offer outstanding customer service to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with faculty and staff across all units of the university to develop and submit grant proposals to external funding agencies. This includes delivery of training programs to faculty and staff; guidance of faculty and staff through in-person consultations; identification of relevant opportunities and resources; fostering collaboration and formation of interdisciplinary teams; collaborating with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations; and cultivation of relationships with funding agencies.
Develop, implement, and improve policies and procedures for compliance with Uniform Guidance, federal, state, and local regulations related to sponsored programs, including staying abreast of changes in compliance and modifying institutional policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
Serve as an authorized organization representative (AOR) in support of grant and contract applications and any necessary reports or documents connected with proposal submissions. This includes effective use of grants management systems; ensuring appropriate budget development and compatibility with RFP requirements; and management of internal competition processes.
Assess the effectiveness of research administration processes including benchmarking, tracking progress toward goals, and measuring outcomes. This includes implementation of software systems for tracking and improving key functions of the Office and creation of reports for University administration as needed.
