Job Description:
Assists in preparation of financial statements and various other accounting statements and reports.
Assists in month-end and year-end close process, includes submitting journal entries, reviewing transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Generate monthly faculty, staff, research, and clinical metrics.
Oversees and maintains University related systems, including expense management and procurement systems. Act as liaison between University Shared Services and departments.
Maintains and updates the Accounting System in preparation for new financial system.
Prepares discretionary spend analysis.
Reviews estimated expenditures for capital project reporting. In addition, develops expenditure projections and provides periodic budget variance reports.
Monitors lease transactions for incorrect account usage.
Acts as a resource for team members and solves complex problems.
Performs a variety of routine operating or cost accounting activities which require basic knowledge of accounting theories and principles.
Examines accounting records for the purpose of determining gains and losses, receipts and disbursements, and inventory.
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelorâ™s degree in Finance or Accounting is strongly preferred.
Experience:
Preferred experience in a university or academic medical center.
Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Understanding of financial computing and database software applications.
Preferred Competencies
Knowledge of various financial principles, practices, and applications including budgeting, financial planning, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
Intellectual versatility and creativity.
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
Strong educational background with a focus on business, economics, or related technical field.
Coursework in accounting and finance.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels.
