In September of 1984, the CCSWA became the owner and operator of the Lanchester Landfill, a 625-acre property located in Honey Brook, Salisbury and Caernarvon Townships. The landfill changed its name in 2022 to Lanchester Landfill and Reclamation Center (LLARC).
LLARC is permitted to accept 1,850 tons per day of municipal solid waste. The landfill serves about 400,000 residents in Chester County under the County’s Designated Site Ordinance. LLARC has a Small Load Facility where local residents can dispose of their waste and recycle almost 20 different types of materials. LLARC also has an organics processing center where leaf and yard waste is composted and wood waste is processed. A permanent Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling facility is planned to open in 2025 to serve all of Chester County The landfill employes about 30 full-time employees.
