We are seeking a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT who can manage a large and diverse volume of responsibilities. This position will report to the Director of Finance.
Primary Responsibilities:
General Accounting
Ensure integrity of accounting information by reconciling various general ledger accounts monthly
Analyze budget by comparing actual results to budget
Assist in accounting for subsidiaries Lakeshore Jewish Funerals and Westlawn Cemetery
Maintain Fixed Assets schedule
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Prepare documentation for outside auditors
Other duties as assigned
Payroll
Process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls through Paycor and oversee payroll tax reporting
Maintain staff payroll records and benefit elections including health, dental and 401k plan
Improve and monitor payroll systems by creating new procedures and reports
Accounts Payable
Review invoices for proper authorization and coding to process for payment
Analyze spending trends and help to ensure cost efficiencies
Maintenance and issuance of 1099’s and W9’s
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or equivalent
Minimum two years of relevant accounting experience
Proficiency with Microsoft office and expert Excel skills
Attention to detail, accuracy, strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-volume environment
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Strong verbal and written communication skill; proficiency in English
CPA certificate or working towards certification a plus
