Summary
We are looking for an entry-level staff accountant to assist in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting the financial operations of the college. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to grow within the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyzes and prepares general ledger and bank reconciliations.
- Assists with monthly, quarterly and year-end entries and reporting.
- Assists in the review of financial statements for accuracy and compliance with policies.
- Assist in budgeting processes and financial analysis.
- Support various duties involving the budget process including training and allocation of funding.
- Participates in the annual audit and various reconciliations as needed.
- Assist in the preparation and of tax returns.
- Provide support to all areas of the Business Office including AP and Student Account functions.
- Additional Business Office duties to be determined by the Controller.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; equivalent combination of associate degree and experience will be considered. Proficient abilities in operating computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets and Microsoft suite or willingness to learn is required.
- Ability to complete projects with little or no supervision.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports and present information to others.
- Must be able to work both independently and as a team.
