Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Finance, the Senior Accountant provides financial and administrative support to the Finance department, including:
1) performing comprehensive contract services and financial reconciliation for the University Part-Time Adjunct and Full-Time Faculty, and
2) tracking for administrative contracts in the Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) Office, and
3) other occasional payroll duties which will be non-faculty related (either staff and/or student payroll only), and
4) other financial related duties such as inputting data into the general ledger system and ensuring for accuracy and completeness of the data through reconciliations and other analyses.
This position will work with the AVP of Finance to track all existing and new administrative contracts, developing a system and suggesting software to streamline the creation, tracking and management of administrative contracts. Aside from the Finance office, this position will also require partnership with the Provost's Office, Institutional Advancement, Human Resources, and other departments and teams as required.
This position's responsibilities include managing, sending, and tracking of faculty and administrative contracts, as part of the on-boarding of new faculty. This role will manage all employment contracts approved by the Provost's Office, the input of data into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), control of confidential and other employment records, development of projects and reports, and completion and submission of internal and external reports. Assist with developing policies and procedures.
A high degree of independent judgment, creativity and initiative is needed to resolve minor and major problems by selecting from various alternative solutions.

Annual Salary Rate Range: $68,640.00 - $72,500.00
Monthly Salary Rate Range: $5,706.67 - $6,041.67
Hiring salary can be above the posted pay range if candidate's qualifications are determined to be above the minimum requirements of the position description.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain official HR/employee contracts for all Part-Time Adjunct and Full-Time Faculty based on the database owned by the Provost's Office, including:
rates of pay, type of contract, start and end dates for contracts, promotions, changes in administrative roles, specific stipends and overloads;
ensure contract compliance with MSMU's faculty employment policies including classification, assignment, salary placement, evaluations, leaves, benefit administration, and resignations/termination based on the information supplied by the Provost's Office;
establish and maintain the electronic profile in ADP Workforce Now;
collect and issue required payroll and benefit documents;
coordinate with the Provost's Office, HR/Benefits and Payroll departments to create pay profile;
coordinate with the Grants team for any Federal and/or State funded positions;
coordinate the resolution of payroll irregularities with the Provost's Office and HR, Finance, and Payroll staff
2. Coordinate the distribution and collection of Adjunct Part-Time and Full-Time faculty contracts, compensation and classification internal datasheet, based on Provost's Office database:
confirm data for position classification (annual and semester contracts);
conduct classification and eligibility reviews with the Provost's Office including the following data points;
- Sabbatical
- leaves,
- optional retirement program applications,
- merit eligibility,
- tenure status;
- contract service days;
- salary information regarding academic assignments
- rank
- academic and administrative leadership appointments
Develop classification specifications based on submitted documentation upon request of Finance and Budget Department
Provide historical and current quantitative and qualitative analysis information as needed
3. Develop and maintain a system and process for managing all administrative contracts and leases
Maintain official contracts, including renewals, updates and fiscal and annual distribution
Maintain leases, including renewals, extensions, expirations updates and fiscal and annual distribution
Review documentation to ensure compliance with contract language
Respond to questions about contracts from other departments
Provide administrative assistance at times and work with AVP to develop appropriate policies and procedures
Provide historical and current quantitative and qualitative analysis information as needed
4. Perform occasional ad-hoc payroll and accounting duties which will be non-faculty related (either staff and/or student payroll only)
5. Perform other duties as assigned

Abilities and Skills:
Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication. Must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of the university students, staff and faculty.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or associated major is highly preferred.
Experience:
Three (3) years of successful work experience of increasing responsibility, including Higher Education experience, research and data collection for reports and contracts; managing and tracking contracts; automated and integrated human resources information system ADP Workforce Now and/or HR and Payroll experience with advanced Excel experience; ability to work with different departments; data entry/modification/retrieval.
