JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is focused on tax accounting, reporting and compliance, assisting with various accounting functions, grant accounting and other various responsibilities. This position is a key member of the Finance Office at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Ensure College compliance with various tax laws and reporting
Research tax topics and provide technical expertise to campus-wide constituents
Accounting Functions
Assist with audit process, including audit workpaper preparation and evaluation of internal controls
Prepare account reconciliations on a timely and accurate basis
Prepare and review Conflict of Interest Disclosure statements for potential conflicts
Work collaboratively with other departments on campus related to accounting policies and procedures
Grant Accounting
Partner closely with Office of Research and Sponsored Programs to ensure grant compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance and Grantor agreements
Record monthly grant activity/budget entries and review expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements
Assist with preparation of annual reporting requirements and report submissions
Prepare and submit periodic renewal of the federal indirect cost rate
Other Responsibilities
Assist in preparation of annual surveys
Maintain gambling/raffle permits and reporting compliance
Maintain Columbarium records
Assist with processing bequests and non-cash gifts given to the College
Serve on various campus committees, as requested
Provide backup to other Finance Office positions
All other duties as assigned
Prerequisites
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field
5+ years of accounting experience
Ability to analyze and solve problems independently
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Well organized, accurate and detail oriented
Ability to handle highly confidential information responsibly
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA designation
