We are an electrical contractor located on the south side of Chicago. We have 15 office staff and anywhere from 40 to 80 electricians, depending on the workload. We are looking for an experienced controller to lead our accounting office.
We are in the process of bringing growth capital into the company and have engaged a consultant to assist us across a variety of functions which include implementing a more robust job costing capability.
The Controller is responsible for issuing job cost reports and meeting with Operations to explain them and providing the President with rolling 13-week cash flow projections.
Results oriented, hands-on professional with the ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers, subcontractors/vendors, and employees. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Supervision of two accounting clerks.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Oversight of Foundation (accounting system) and preparation of job cost report.
Forecast cash requirements.
Meetings with operations to explain job cost reports.
Oversight of the Accounts Payable processes.
Oversight of the Billing/Accounts Receivable processes.
Process monthly union reports.
Process weekly payroll.
Bank reconciliations.
Prepare general ledger journal entries.
Assist CPA firm with preparation and analysis of quarterly Financial Statements, including reconciliation of all Balance Sheet Accounts.
Administration of corporate credit card charges.
Assist management in budgeting process.
And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field desired but not required
+5 years’ experience in the construction industry strongly desired
Compensation: Salary range: $80K to $120K, depending on candidate’s qualifications and experience. This is an exempt salaried position.
