 Position Summary 
 Under general supervision, performs professional accounting, technical review, and budget support duties; reviews, verifies and reports financial and technical transactions; analyzes and researches financial records, and assures compliance with accounting standards and College of St. Scholastica (CSS) policies and procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: 
 Essential Functions: 
 Complete various recurring accounting tasks effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision within established timelines, tasks include but not limited to: 
 
 Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close, for preparation and distribution of financial statements and reports for internal and external use. 
 Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and analytics for various complex account balances 
 Prepare payroll and benefit journal entries and complex investment entries.&#xa0; 
 Prepare other revenue and expense entries across multiple funds, including intercompany entries. 
 
 Perform variety of general accounting department tasks within time constraints to the satisfaction of clients (internal &#38; external), including but not limited to: 
 
 Preparation of financial statements and schedules while providing appropriate commentary on results to management and externally as required 
 Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close, for preparation and distribution of financial statements and reports for internal and external use. 
 Review, evaluate and update accounting policies as required. 
 Assist with the preparation, coordination, and successful completion of annual financial audit annual 990, etc. within the applicable timeframe to meet filing requirements. 
 Regularly assess internal controls to safeguard assets and support accurate and complete financial statements. 
 Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data 
 Collaborate effectively with University staff as needed to provide accounting and financial related support and guidance 
 Develop and distribute financial reports as needed 
 Assist with various project requests &#38; deadlines 
 
 Leadership &#38; Collaboration 
 
 Provide leadership and oversight to the accounting team to make sure tasks are completed in a timely manner 
 Hire, train and manage accounting staff and ensure staff completes job duties in accordance with policies, procedures, and performance expectations. 
 Delegate tasks appropriately between the accounting staff based on the needs of the department and the College 
 Oversee, approve, and update internal and external communications regarding policies and deadlines for the Accounting department. 
 Qualifications 
 Required: 
 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. 
 Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible financial analysis or budgeting experience. 
 Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. 
 Demonstrated experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis tools. 
 Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to diverse audiences. 
 Proficiency with financial software and advanced Excel skills. 
 Supervisory or team leadership experience. 
 
 Preferred: 
 
 Master&#8217;s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field. 
 CPA preferred 
 Experience in higher education or non-profit financial management. 
 Familiarity with ERP or financial systems (e.g., Banner, Workday, Oracle, or similar).</description>

 Job Summary 
 Manage and apply resources to general enterprise financial operations, guided by experience, organizational goals and operational strategies.  Lead financial activities resulting in accurate and complete accounting and financial reporting. Lead employees and leverage subject matter experts for more detailed information and expertise on complex issues. Must understand all financial results and forecasts, and act as a strategic partner to leadership and function as an integral member of the senior leadership team. 
 Review and approve operating plans and financial forecasts. Execute insightful scenario planning and sensitivity analytics, and advise leadership of potential issues and opportunities. Oversee compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), local statutory requirements, enterprise policies, procedures and risk management resulting in an appropriate compliance environment. 
 Proactively deliver comprehensive advice to leaders relevant to strategic decisions in the areas of cost management, cash flow analysis and margin improvement. Actively contribute to the creation of strategic plans and set performance targets in alignment with business objectives. 
 Encourage others to consider innovative alternatives and contribute to moving the enterprise forward in operational efficiency and effectiveness, while driving profitable business growth. Operationalize global systems and processes. Fully exploit available technology and provide meaningful analytics to assist leaders in making business decisions. 
 Lead through both influence and credibility, provide accurate and timely feedback to team members, and be comfortable receiving feedback. Engage and challenge the status quo for processes, technology and models, and explore ways to develop team members through direct and indirect mentoring. 
 Direct the daily finance activities for development and research, support services and administration. 
 
 Qualifications 
 Bachelor&#8217;s degree in finance, accounting, business, business management or a related field required. Master in Finance (MiF), Master of Accounting (MAcct), Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a master&#39;s degree in a related field preferred. 
 Five years of management experience required. Experience in a health care industry preferred.

 Reporting directly to the Director of Business Office and Operations, this position is responsible for the management of accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, account reconciliation and analysis, payroll and benefits, budgeting, auditing and internal controls. 
 Key Responsibilities  
 
 Support timely and accurate preparation of financial statements 
 Perform monthly, quarterly and yearly close activities 
 Prepare and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet and revenue accounts and resolve discrepancies on a monthly basis 
 Collaborate with Human Resources in overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll and related tax reporting and accounting of benefit and ensuring proper recording of payroll and benefits transactions 
 Assist with budget preparation, monitoring and variance analysis 
 Play an active role in preparing audit schedules requested by auditors for the annual financial audit, 403(b) retirement plan audit and worker&#8217;s compensation audit 
 Respond to inquiries regarding financial transactions and request for ad hoc reports 
 
 General Support  
 
 Support the Director of Business Office and Operations with special projects 
 Serve as back up to other Business Office staff in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
