Ames Laboratory is seeking applicants for an Accountant I or II position. Ames Laboratory is a Department of Energy (DOE) funded National Laboratory operated through a contractual agreement with Iowa State University.
Under general supervision, the Accountant will perform professional accounting functions including the review and analysis of accounting and financial transactions, and data collection and preparation of accounting schedules. Performs financial management special assignments to support overall functions of the Ames Laboratory Finance Department.
In addition, the Accountant II level would be expected to perform the development and preparation of specialized accounting reports and financial statements.
The successful candidate will possess strong attention to detail and above average analytical and mathematical skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to interact with a diverse constituency of individuals are necessary for success in this position. This position will interact with individuals both within and external to the University campus. The ability to analyze and solve problems, and to develop new or improve existing procedures will be an important component of this position.
