Job Summary:
Perform a wide variety and complexity of tasks and projects in the department, which will advance the work the department does and provide opportunities for your own growth and interests.
The incumbent will join a dedicated group of Physics staff members, and you will have primary responsibility for maintaining and reconciling the financial activity of the department of Physics faculty, who educate students and perform basic research as diverse as Space, Nuclear, and Medical physics.
Working closely with the department's Administrative Service Officer, the incumbent will also contribute to the department's strategy and budgetary initiatives on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis.
Essential Duties:
- Reconcile monthly financial statements and prepare the accounting reports for the department.
- Administer funds, and financial functions, such as budget accounting, budget preparation, operations of the payroll department, or similar fiscal procedures.
- Suggest and assist in the development of new accounting procedures and methods
- Study present accounting, auditing, and other fiscal procedures, and recommend improvements.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual financial report.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field plus two years of experience in governmental or commercial accounting or the equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of professional government or commercial accounting experience including experience processing and reconciling budgeting transactions, large departmental budgets, and grants.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Peoplesoft. Experience with UT Share (UT Arlington's accounting program).
