Job Summary
Under the direction of management, performs audits, advisory service projects, and investigations covering financial, operational, and compliance areas across UC Davis Health. Performs engagements in accordance with the Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, the Code of Ethics of the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the UC Audit Manual. Assesses organizational and operational risks; designs and executes work programs; prepares work papers; maintains communication with operating staff and management; develops recommendations; drafts reports to management; performs post-engagement work as necessary to ensure that corrective actions are implemented. Promotes concepts of internal control to assist University personnel in the discharge of their duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.

- AMAS is a remote office, and most staff work from home or another secure location. A University-owned laptop and monitors are provided. Staff may work outside the state of California as long as they are able to perform their duties on Pacific Standard Time (PST). Shared workstations in Davis are available to staff who prefer to work in-office regularly or on occasion.
- AMAS staff work flexible schedules. Staff are generally expected to be accessible during the core business hours of 9am to 4pm PST, Monday through Friday. Modified schedules are approved for fully-performing staff who wish to start the day earlier, end the day later, and/or take additional or extended breaks mid-day. Staff have the option to work 9/80 flex schedules.
- Staff in AMAS comply with the Internal Audit Code of Ethics.
- Staff must be able to travel to Sacramento, Davis, or other locations on occasion to perform engagements or attend training sessions
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Minimum Education/Experience
- BS or BA Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience applying theories and principles related to healthcare in internal auditing, accounting, compliance, law, administration, research administration, information systems, and/or information security.
- Experience planning and executing projects.
- Experience assessing risk within and at the intersections of differing technical subjects and/or business processes.
- Experience writing, presenting, and defending informational and persuasive reports.
- Experience solving problems with existing resources.
- Experience using oral and written communication skills to interact with management and leadership.
Preferred:
Additional Preferred License/Certification
- Demonstrated progress toward professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Healthcare Internal Audit Professional (CHIAP), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), etc.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Experience in the healthcare industry, with increasing administrative responsibility.
- Experience using Oracle or Infor-Lawson financial systems; experience using Epic electronic medical record system.
- Experience using data analytical or visualization software, such as ACL or Tableau.
