Responsibilities
The General Ledger (GL) Accountant II is responsible for preparing accurate and timely general ledger account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close procedures to support the production of financial statements. This role involves maintaining accurate general ledger records, preparing journal entries and supporting the general ledger team to ensure integrity of financial data and compliance with accounting standards.
Prepare and post journal entries into the general ledger system, ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is collected.
Assist with various month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for preparation of financial reporting.
Analyze financial data and provide explanations for variances.
Prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations and associated schedules for assigned accounts.
Collaborate with the G/L team and other departments to gather and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree in accounting or finance required.
2â“5 years of general ledger accounting experience required.
5+ years of experience with increasing responsibility in general ledger functions preferred.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and the relationship between balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple tasks to meet required deadlines.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Self-motivated with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Software:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and advanced spreadsheet functions.
Experience with accounting software; Oracle ERP software and/or PowerBi experience is preferred.
