East Stroudsburg University's Business Office presently seeks an attentive General Accountant. The General Accountant will be responsible for the following duties:
Perform a variety of complex accounting tasks which involve preparing financial analysis, budget management, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and reports
Review and approve travel expense vouchers; also responsible for check production and ACH, check voiding and reissues, outstanding check reports
Daily analysis of revenue bank account activity and timely resolution of issues, investigating returns and disputed items; preparation of monthly revenue bank reconciliation
Research and correct reconciling items identified in an accurate and timely manner
Assist with fulfilling various reporting requirements including but not limited to Chancellor’s Tax, FISAP, IPEDS, Unclaimed Property Tax, NCAA and Dept. of Ed reporting for Athletics, VSE Report for ESU’s Foundation
Utilize the ERP and SIS systems to gather, process, maintain, and report financial information
Provide assistance when departments have questions related to policy and procedures as well as appropriate use of account codes
Assist the Controller & Asst. Controller with providing information to the external auditors to facilitate timely completion of the audit. Prepare schedules, reports, and reconciliations requested by the audit team in a timely and accurate manner. Address audit questions and provide comments in a timely and professional manner.
Complete special projects as assigned by the University’s Controller and Asst. Controller
Perform other reasonable and appropriate accounting duties as assigned
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 6 months to three years experience required. Must have strong communication skills (both written and verbal), the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships within the campus community, and a great attention to detail. Should also be proficient with Microsoft Office EXCEL and WORD.
Experience in higher education, experience with SAP, BANNER and fund accounting a plus.
Preferred qualifications may be used to further reduce the pool of applicants to those who are most highly qualified.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8AM to 4:30PM
Starting Salary Approximately: $49,633.00, plus excellent benefits. Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of employment.
