Job DescriptionThis position administers and controls the fiscal activities of federal, state, and private student grants in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as federal, state, and MinnState polices. Under general supervision/procedural control, the position is also responsible for financial reconciliation, researching and resolving discrepancies. The position will also assist with student account maintenance, data pulls, and journal entries. Serve as the NHCC Foundation bookkeeper. This position works collaboratively with Financial Aid, Foundation and other campus and external partners.Salary Range:$23.63 - $34.18 HourlyMinimum Qualifications2 years of professional accounting experience in public service or higher education environment. A Bachelor?s degree may substitute for 12 months of experience and an Associate?s degree may substitute for 6 months.Two years of the required experience must include completing complex account reconciliations.Thorough knowledge or established Financial Aid policies and procedures.Strong analytical skills, with ability to apply logic and sound professional judgement in situations.Technical knowledge of business systems in order to understand the interrelationships of data within various modules.Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and practices sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural and other fiscal problems.Preferred QualificationBachelor?s degree in accounting, finance, management or related field.Advanced skill level using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Internet and web based systems.Experience working in higher education environmentExperience with MinnState ISRS, Workday, and retail point of sale.Work ShiftMonday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pmTeleworkYes - Two days per week, depending on the department's needs.AboutWhy Choose NHCC?Choose to work at North Hennepin Community College (NHCC), and you will be joining a vibrant and diverse professional community that believes in the power of education to change lives.
