Are you looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity where you can put your accounting skills to work in a mission-driven organization? The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread is seeking a Part-Time Accounting Clerk to join our Finance team. This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, values accuracy and collaboration, and wants to contribute to an organization making a lasting impact in the community.
As a Part-Time Accounting Clerk working 14-20 hours per week, you’ll work closely with the Director of Finance to support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll assistance, and journal entries. You’ll play an important role in maintaining smooth and accurate financial processes that help advance the Foundation’s mission.
The Johnson Foundation at Wingspread, based in Racine, Wisconsin, is a community-centered foundation that brings people together to explore, address, and advance solutions to today’s most pressing challenges. Established in 1959 by H.F. Johnson Jr., The Foundation operates from the historic Wingspread property, a Frank Lloyd Wright–designed home, and through initiatives that can support sustainable communities for decades to come.
What You’ll Do:
Process invoices, allocate costs to the correct accounts, and prepare check and ACH payments • Communicate with vendors to resolve invoice questions and ensure proper documentation • Collect and upload employee credit card receipts into the accounting system • Prepare bank deposits and corresponding journal entries • Assist with month-end close, including posting journal entries • Provide financial information to managers and budget holders as needed • Maintain accurate accounting records and reports • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing • Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum Requirements: • High school diploma and coursework in accounting or finance • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and the ability to learn new accounting software • Communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; able to follow instructions accurately, work independently or collaboratively, and maintain a professional, positive attitude with vendors and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field • Up to two years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
