Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford.
Germanna is currently look to hire a General Accountant in the business office. The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger through accurate and timely processing, recording, and reconciliation of accounting transactions and through relevant financial reporting for Germanna Community College decisionmakers and stakeholders.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Â· Responsible for accurate and timely processing, recording, and reconciliation of transactions involving federal, state, local, and grant funds.
Â· Prepares financial reports, analysis, and schedules to document and communicate the financial status of various programs.
Â· Collaborates with grant program managers to track, audit, reconcile, and report on grants.
Â· Assists the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance in budget development and monitoring, routine systems reconciliations, yearend closing, and annual ARMICS testing and certification.
Â· Assists the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance in interpreting and implementing federal, state, local and VCCS policies, procedures, and regulations.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Â· Bachelorâ™s degree from an accredited college with a major in accounting or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
Â· 3-5 yearsâ™ experience in general accounting using automated accounting systems.
Â· Experience working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or governmental accounting principles.
Â· Experience in analyzing, reconciling, and reporting complex accounting information.
Â· Experience using Microsoft Excel at the intermediate skill level.
